The solutions to improve the security of Mumbai's water supply network
1. BMC should appoint the citizens' vigilance committee on the basis of 'muhalla committee'. The citizens' vigilance committee members should be given id-cards and responsibility to detect the water theft in their locality and they should inform any mishappening at the pipelines to the BMC office
.
2. As water is the basic and foremost necessity of all the people alike, the socially conscious people staying near the water pipeline will come forward to assist BMC in this important venture.
3. The present slum dwellers surrounding the water pipelines must be given alternate housing and in the future the surrounding area must be declared as 'no man's land.
4. The most strict solution is : The new act must be passed by government of Maharashtra , announcing the area surrounding pipelines as 'strictly prohibitated' and the trespassers must be punished severely for the greater benefit to the society.
