Our Ganpati is omnipresent( present everywhere ) , omniscient ( with
infinite knowledge ) , omnipotent ( with unlimited power ). Ganpati
has big ears , signifying , his possession of a great virtue to listen
to others and assimilate ideas.Ganpati does not need the Loudspeakers
to hear the prayers of his devotees. Ganpati grants Aashirvaad
without any partiality towards higher decibel-loudspeakers , bigger
PoP idols, garish decorations , longer queues for darshan , full
blasting of item-songs on loop.
Noise has been recognized as an ambient air pollutant. As per norms
the maximum permissible noise level during the day is 50dB in silence
zone and 55 dB in residential area. No exception to decibel levels are
allowed under the Noise Pollution rules , even during the time limit
extended by State government until midnight for 15 days a year .
Loudspeakers create a lot of noise pollution causing nuisance to
senior citizens , sick persons , children and pets , who are sensitive
to loud noise.
Solution for the problem of higher noise levels :
We the Mumbaikars must form the vigilant groups of like-minded people
in our own societies and visit the neighboring Mandals , where the
noise pollution is high . We should make the problem-makers aware of
the nuisance caused to the elders , patients , children and pets. We
must persuade them about their civic sense and responsibilities. Last
but not the least , If they don't understand polite language and abide
by the rules , the police must take prompt action against the mandals
, violating the rules.
